What helps to drive our learning...

We had to build the tallest tower.... That was all we were told.
We had all sorts of problems, there was not enough play dough or ice block sticks, the play dough didn't stick well but we had a great time and we tried our best.

Then we had to have another go, this time in our groups.
This time we had enough stuff and we started building some cool towers. Then we had a chat about what makes it easier or harder - what drives our learning and what blocks our learning.
We noticed that some things can be blockers and drivers. It depends on what you are doing and how you think best. We are going to take some more time to explore what helps us, what drives our learning so we can be the 'best me we can be'.

Daily 5

During reading we practise the daily 5. This helps us to get better at reading and writing. We made some posters to help us remember what the different daily's look like...

The last Daily is Listen to Reading... our next step is to make our Daily 5 poster and practise the correct and incorrect model.

Zirka Circus

We had a visit from 3 acrobats from Zirka Circus and they were amazing!! The youngest is only 9 years old. She came from a village in China and went to a special school. She had practised for over 8000 hours before she joined the circus, that is a lot of practise!
When something is tricky, keep on practising - a little every day and you will get better and better!

Bon voyagè

Today we said goodbye to one of our students. He is off to France with his family so we thought we would send him off in style. We learned a song, built a tower, created some flag biscuits and did some counting in French. We had a great day!
We tried to make our biscuits red, white and blue... they were delicious!!
We are trying crossionts and french bread!

Check out my tower - just like 'La Tour Eiffel'

Happy Birthday James

We hope you had a great birthday. Thank you for the delicious birthday cake. We all loved it!!!

Comparing Tortoises and Turtles

For news on Wednesday Lucy shared with us that she has 3 tortoises.  They are called Barry Alan, Frank the Tank and Boris.  We discovered we had lots of questions about tortoises.  We were mostly interested about the tortoises and how they are different to turtles.  This is what we found out.
